The room had a great view and was close to dining options. The location was perfect, right by the park entrance. The pool was clean and enjoyable. Staff allowed us to play our music and danced with us at night.

The location of this hotel is truly spectacular, with a view of the river from the bedrooms and restaurant. Being right at Semuc Champey, it's perfect for low-budget travelers like us who want convenience and a chance to enjoy the environment during meals and rest in the middle of the day. We also loved the option to go floating down the river with a guide from the hotel, which was a very special experience.
Felt truly spoilt, no reason to complain.

We had a wonderful Christmas stay at this hotel! the location was absolutely stunning, with beautiful views of the river. We loved sitting on the porch, enjoying the soothing sound of the river and the peaceful atmosphere. the staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any requests or questions. the food at the hotel was also delicious, with a good selection of options to choose from. We especially enjoyed the 2 for 1 drinks in the evening, it was a fun way to relax and unwind.
It would have been helpful if we had known about the scheduled power outages beforehand, as it was a bit of a hassle, especially with two kids.

I recently stayed at El Portal De Champey for a few nights and it was a fantastic experience. The staff at the hostel were extremely kind and helpful, especially the lady at the reception. The location was amazing, just a short walk to the entrance of Semuc Champey. This meant that we were able to be the first people in the park and have the pools at Semuc all to ourselves for hours. The views from the hostel were breathtaking, overlooking the river, the yellow bridge, and the jungle. Our private cabin was clean and comfortable, with chairs outside to relax and take in the view. The hostel also had a swimming pool and offered activities like tubing and cave tours. To top it all off, the food and drinks were great. The hostel even provided transportation to and from the bus station for free. It was a truly magical experience being off the grid.
Strongly recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is just perfect. It's so close to the main attraction that you don't need a tour guide. Just a short walk and you're there. Plus, the view of the river from the rooms and the restaurant is truly spectacular.
There were a few things that bothered me about this hotel. there was no Wi-Fi, which was a disappointment since the internet services in the country are usually good.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
